Well…check out this video and then we’ll get to the discussion.
What irritates me with these kinds of situations is how many black individuals don’t seem to see a problem with this kind of gang violence (even if we only consider the numbers of people in the gangs themselves). Of course many might come out and say “well if it weren’t for the white man keeping the black man down, there wouldn’t be these kinds of things happening”. Hopefully having a black president will finally destroy that argument forever.
Here’s my request to the black community: do something! I know that one person or a small group of people might not have any effect, and I know that some people will always make poor choices no matter what. But you need to step up and refuse to keep falling into these issues with gangs, violent crime, or drug offenses (whether those drug laws are good laws or bogus laws is another argument…). Notice how nobody in the video seemed to concerned that a guy was being beat to death. Why was the guy doing the camera work just repeatedly saying “Damn…damn…” Why didn’t you shut your mouth and do what’s right?! As long as black individuals refuse to insist that this kind of behavior cease (the gang wars and so on), you cannot blame the “white man” or the “Asian man” or the “European man” for “keeping you down”; that responsibility lies with you.
